Introducing Passkeys for Sign-In
A passkey is a new way to sign in to websites or apps without using a password. Instead of typing something you have to remember, you just unlock your phone or computer using:
- Your face or fingerprint
- Your device’s PIN.
This is beneficial because:
- No password to remember
- It’s safe—hackers can’t steal it like a regular password
- It works on lots of devices, like phones, tablets, or computers
A passkey requires a compatible personal device such as a smartphone or tablet.
- Check your device vendors’s website for compatibility information with passkeys. See the Resources tab for more information on Passkeys by common device vendors.
- If you change devices and upgrade, you will need to set up a new passkey on the new device.
- If you do not have access to your device, you can still login with your password.
