MyChart Bedside
MyChart Bedside gives you and your loved ones more information about your hospital or ED visit. You can use MyChart Bedside on a Franciscan-provided tablet (if available in the department) or with the MyChart app on your smartphone.
Note: The availability of features may vary depending on the care setting and whether you are using a Franciscan-provided tablet or your own smartphone.
Here are some of the features MyChart Bedside has to offer:
- Schedule shows you events during your hospital stay. You can see events including:
- Medication administrations
- Upcoming hospital appointments
- Upcoming outpatient appointments
- Scheduled surgeries
- Tasks such as lab collections or taking a walk
- Events that you add, such as a family visit (available in MyChart Bedside tablet only).
- Care Team helps you become more familiar with current and previous members of your treatment team. You can see each treatment team member’s role, photo, and a brief bio.
- Requests allows you to place non-urgent requests. For example, you can request water, clean hospital gown, or warm blanket. If you need immediate help, please use your call light.
- Questionnaires allows you to actively participate in your care and contribute clinical data by responding to questions from within Bedside. All Bedside patients are assigned Bedside Satisfaction survey. Completing the survey allows us to better understand your digital needs and improve MyChart Bedside features.
- My Documents allows you to review and sign consent forms assigned to you during the admission. Forms that are already signed appear here, and any consent form that’s assigned during the admission is automatically available in Bedside.
- Notes/Notes from Care Team allows you to read notes from your care team.
- Test Results provides as a dashboard where you can view up-to-date health information at a glance. You can tap a lab result or vital sign to see more detailed information and trends over the course of your hospital admission.
- Education feature allows you to review assigned educational materials. The education materials can be presented in text, PDF, audio, video, and website format. You care team can see your progress. Once you complete an education title, you can tab “I understand” to complete the education. If you have any questions regarding the materials you reviewed, please tap “I have questions” to let your care team know.
- Friends & Family Access activity allows you to add or remove proxy access to your MyChart account. After tapping “Invite friends or family”, you see an invite page with questions about the person you would like to grant access to your account to (name, email and access type). After filling out the fields, the invitee is responsible for accepting the invitation in order to view your account.
- Friends & Family Updates gives you a convenient way to share updates with your proxies during a time when others are often looking for updates. Proxies can react and comment on these posted updates. Additionally, you can receive e-cards sent by your proxies in this activity. Proxies can choose from twelve fun images to send to you.
- Continuing Care (Bedside tablet and MyChart Bedside in Mobile only) feature in MyChart Bedside allows you to indicate up to three providers you prefer for your post-discharge care. Case managers review the responses and continue discharge planning without any printing or scanning necessary.
- Thank Your Nurse (Bedside tablet and MyChart Bedside in Mobile only) allows you to submit a form to show your appreciation for your nurse.
- Other Visits (Bedside tablet only) is where past admissions appear in Bedside if a tablet was set up during a previous hospital admission.
- Video Chat (Bedside tablet only) allows you to have a video session with your virtual nurse.

Patients are not required to use the MyChart Bedside tablet. However, it is the best device for receiving virtual services, such as a video visit with the Virtual Nurse. We encourage all patients to use this service when possible.
You and your approved proxies can view your Bedside information. Your proxy should have an active MyChart account and MyChart application.

Yes. At this time you can use both. However, certain features may not be available in MyChart app on your smartphone.
If the code you receive after your admission expires or if you are unable to set up the Bedside tablet with your code, staff can assist with setting up a tablet for you.
